India: protesting
wrestlers Detained
amid march toward
Parliament Building
Top Indian grapplers including Vinesh Phogat,
Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia were among
those confined by the police in the public capital
, Delhi, on Sunday (May 28). This comes as they
attempted to walk to the new parliament
building hours after it was initiated. The dissent
which started at Jantar Mantar, a few kilometer
from the new parliament, was subsequently
cleared by the Delhi police.
For what reason are the Indian
grapplers dissenting?
This comes as top grapplers like Vinesh Phogat,
Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and others, have
been challenging the Wrestling Organization of
India (WFI's) boss Brij Bhushan Singh after
seven female grapplers, including a minor, have
whined against Singh for supposed
inappropriate behavior and required his
capture.
