' Heartbroken' sam smith cancels Manchester gig

The 31-year-old singer put out a statement apologising to fans after having to cancel their show after

just four songs. Many fans shared their frustrations about the gig on social media.

Sam Smith said they are "devastated" after their gig in Manchester was dropped because of voice issues.

The 31-year-old artist, who astonished fans by saying they would be in front of an audience with

Madonna, was performing at the AO Field on Wednesday night.

Smith was playing out their "Gloria the Visit" to a pressed out field, however after four tunes, the

vocalist left the stage for quite a while.

Fans online expressed that there had been a power cut as the lights in the space were briefly diminished

Some time later, fans were informed the show had finished because of "vocal issues" and were told to

leave the field

Following the occurrence, Smith shared an explanation on Instagram and apologized to fans.

"I don't have any idea what to sincerely say. I fended off an infection half a month prior and from that

point forward we have traversed Europe and had such mind boggling shows.

"Today in soundcheck I felt fine and was so eager to give Manchester an astonishing show this evening,

with a unique shock visitor toward the end," they said.

The assertion kept: "During my third melody, I saw some kind of problem with my voice. I asked it was

only my voice awakening for the show yet into the fourth tune I could feel something was truly off
